Simon Says
The machine plays a growing sequence of glowing tones in rhythm; repeat it back in order. Each round adds a note and the tempo speeds up — long sequences form a little melody.
Simon Says is a memory game with a musical heart. The machine glows and sounds out a sequence of tones in rhythm, and you echo it back in order. What starts as a couple of notes slowly builds into a longer phrase — and because each pad has its own pitch, a long sequence actually turns into a little melody you can hum.
How to play
Press Start, then watch and listen as the pads light and play a rhythmic sequence. Tap or click them back in the exact order you heard, or use number keys 1 through 6 for each pad. Nail the whole sequence to advance a round: it grows by one note and the tempo speeds up. A fifth pad joins at round 8 and a sixth at round 12.
Tips
- Hum each note's pitch as it plays — the melody becomes far easier to remember than a string of colors.
- Keep the beat in your head and wait for the machine to finish before you start tapping.
- Don't rush; the tempo speeds up on its own, so let your recall lead the pace.
- Break longer sequences into short musical phrases rather than memorizing note by note.
