2048 is a sliding number puzzle that turns simple arithmetic into a surprisingly tense game of foresight. Every swipe pushes all the tiles at once, and whenever two tiles of the same value collide they fuse into their sum. The board fills up fast, so what starts as a relaxed doubling exercise quickly becomes a fight for space where one careless move can box you in.
How to play
Use the arrow keys or swipe in any direction to slide every tile toward that side. Matching tiles merge into a single tile worth double, and a new 2 or 4 appears after each move. Keep merging upward through 4, 8, 16, and beyond until you build the 2048 tile to win, though you can keep going for a higher score.
Tips
- Pick one corner and always keep your largest tile parked there.
- Build your numbers in a descending row or column leading into that corner.
- Favor one direction and avoid swiping toward the opposite side, which scatters your stack.
- Merge small tiles early so the board never fills to a dead end.
