Gomoku
Gomoku (Five-in-a-Row) versus an AI. Be the first to line up five of your stones horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Gomoku, also known as Five-in-a-Row or Caro, is a deceptively deep board game played here against an AI opponent. The premise could not be simpler: place your stones and be the first to line up five in a row. But on the open board every stone builds threats in several directions at once, and skilled play becomes a constant dance of attack and defense.
How to play
Tap an intersection to place your stone, then trade turns with the computer trying to line up five stones in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Use the new game button to restart, undo to take back a move, or the two-player button to play a friend on the same device. The first to complete an unbroken line of five wins.
Tips
- Block immediately when your opponent has an open-ended three or four in a row.
- Create a "double threat," attacking in two directions at once so a single block cannot stop you.
- Control the center of the board, where your stones have the most room to grow lines.
- Watch for your opponent's diagonals, which are easy to miss until it is too late.
